Cheapest Weruva Dog & Cat Food by $/lb

Weruva was founded on a principle that has since defined its reputation: "what you see is what you get." Started by a family and named after their three rescue cats, the brand built its identity by creating pet food with ingredients fit for people. Its canned foods set a new standard, featuring shredded chicken breast and whole fish loins in gravies and aspics, making an immediate visual promise of quality that few competitors could match. While its wet foods are famous, Weruva extends this same "foodie" philosophy to its dry food offerings, primarily through its freeze-dried lines. These products aim to deliver the nutritional power of a raw diet with the convenience of a dry kibble. The recipes often carry gourmet names like "Steak Frites Dinner," reflecting their use of high-quality, recognizable proteins like sirloin beef, chicken breast, or tilapia. The freeze-drying process gently removes moisture while preserving the cellular structure and nutrient profile of the raw ingredients, resulting in a lightweight, protein-packed, and highly palatable food. This commitment to quality and advanced processing is clearly reflected in the price. Based on our live catalog data, Weruva's freeze-dried products average $58.03 per pound, placing them in the ultra-premium tier—significantly higher than the overall category average of $22.43/lb. This cost is a direct result of using expensive, whole-food ingredients and a manufacturing process that is far more complex and costly than standard extrusion used for kibble. It is not a budget food; it is a high-end dietary choice. Weruva is an excellent fit for pet parents who prioritize ingredient transparency and are willing to invest in a premium product, especially for smaller pets, picky eaters, or those with sensitivities that benefit from simple recipes. The intense flavor concentration in freeze-dried food can tempt even the fussiest animals. However, due to the high cost-per-pound, exclusively feeding this to a large-breed dog would be financially impractical for most households. A smart way to incorporate Weruva into your pet's diet without breaking the bank is to use it as a meal topper or a high-value treat. Crumbling a portion of the freeze-dried food over a base of traditional kibble can dramatically increase the meal's flavor and protein content. This strategy allows you to provide the "best-in-class" ingredients Weruva is known for in a more sustainable and economical way.
