Feeding guide

Feeding amounts can vary significantly based on a cat's age, activity level, and metabolism. As a general guideline, most adult cats need about 1/2 to 2/3 of a cup per 10 pounds of body weight per day. It's best to divide this total amount into two separate meals. Always ensure fresh, clean water is available. For the most accurate feeding amounts, consult the chart on the product packaging and adjust as needed to maintain a healthy body condition.

Ingredients & nutrition note

To maintain its accessible price, this Friskies recipe likely relies on a combination of animal and plant-based proteins, grains, and added nutrients. Dry foods in this category often use ingredients like corn gluten meal, poultry by-product meal, and meat and bone meal. While formulated to be complete and balanced, it will not have the same ingredient profile as premium foods that lead with deboned, whole meats. Always check the label for the specific list if your cat has known dietary needs.

Price comparison

Priced at $6.31 per pound, this 3.15 lb bag of Friskies Surfin' & Turfin' Favorites sits comfortably below the median price of $7.50/lb for similarly sized bags of dry cat food. It represents a more budget-friendly option compared to the category average, offering a well-known brand at a cost-effective price point.

Frequently asked questions

Is this food suitable for kittens?

No, Friskies Surfin' & Turfin' Favorites is specifically formulated for the nutritional needs of adult cats. Kittens require a different balance of nutrients to support their rapid growth and development, so a dedicated kitten formula is recommended.

What are the flavors in 'Surfin' & Turfin' Favorites'?

The name implies a combination of fish ('surfin') and land-animal ('turfin') flavors. This typically includes flavors from sources like ocean fish, chicken, beef, or turkey to create a savory blend that appeals to many cats.

Does the crunchy kibble really help with dental health?

Yes, the abrasive action of chewing hard, crunchy kibble can help scrape away plaque and tartar from a cat's teeth. While it's not a substitute for professional dental care, it can contribute to better daily oral hygiene.

Is this cat food grain-free?

No, recipes in this price range and from this brand line typically include grains like corn, soy, and wheat, which provide carbohydrates for energy and help form the kibble. If you need a grain-free diet, you would need to look for a different product line specifically marketed as such.

How many bags are included in this purchase?

Based on the title '(4) 3.15 lb Bag', this purchase includes a pack of four individual 3.15 lb bags, totaling 12.6 lbs of food.

Can I mix this dry food with wet food?

Absolutely. Many owners practice mixed feeding, combining dry and wet food to increase their cat's water intake and add variety. If you do this, be sure to reduce the portion of kibble accordingly to avoid overfeeding and unwanted weight gain.
