Overview

This ZIWI Peak bundle provides an opportunity for your cat to sample three of their most popular air-dried recipes: Beef, Lamb, and Chicken. This variety pack is centered around a high-protein, low-carbohydrate philosophy, leveraging ZIWI's signature air-drying process. This gentle method evaporates moisture while concentrating nutrients, creating a dense, jerky-like food that is calorically rich. The grain-free and limited ingredient approach is designed to mirror a whole-prey diet, suitable for obligate carnivores. By including three different proteins, this bundle can help identify your cat's preferences and introduce dietary rotation, which may help mitigate the development of food sensitivities. The inclusion of superfoods like New Zealand green mussels is typical for this brand, aiming to provide natural sources of glucosamine and chondroitin for joint support.

Key features

  • Includes three distinct protein recipes: Beef, Lamb, and Chicken.
  • Features ZIWI's unique two-stage air-drying process to preserve nutrients.
  • High-protein, grain-free, and limited ingredient formulas.
  • Mimics a whole-prey, carnivore-appropriate diet.
  • Nutrient-dense texture means smaller serving sizes compared to conventional kibble.
  • Fortified with superfoods, including New Zealand green mussels for joint health.

Pros

  • Excellent for cats with sensitivities or allergies to grains and gluten.
  • Variety pack is ideal for picky eaters or for dietary rotation.
  • Extremely high meat content aligns with a cat's biological needs.
  • Air-dried process preserves more natural nutrients than high-heat extrusion.
  • No artificial binders, fillers, or preservatives.

Cons

  • Carries an exceptionally high price-per-pound, making it one of the most premium options on the market.
  • The dense, jerky-like texture may not be preferred by all cats, especially those accustomed to puffy kibble.
  • Small total weight (0.875 lb) means this bundle won't last long, serving more as a trial or supplemental food.

Best for

This bundle is best suited for cat owners looking to provide a biologically appropriate, high-protein, rotational diet. It's an excellent choice for cats with known grain allergies or sensitivities. Given the premium price point, it is most practical for owners who prioritize maximum nutrient density and whole-prey formulas over budget and are seeking a trial pack to discover their cat's preferred ZIWI Peak flavor.

Feeding guide

Air-dried food is significantly more nutrient-dense than extruded kibble, so feeding portions are much smaller. As a general starting point, an average adult cat of about 10 lbs may only need around 1/4 to 1/3 of a cup per day. This amount should be adjusted based on your cat's age, activity level, and whether this food is their sole diet or a supplement. Always provide fresh water and consult the specific feeding chart on each bag for the most accurate guidance.

Ingredients & nutrition note

This product page is based on the multi-protein nature of the bundle (Beef, Lamb, Chicken) as described in the title. We do not have the specific ingredient list for each bag. ZIWI Peak's air-dried recipes are known for their high meat content (often including organ and bone) and the inclusion of New Zealand green mussels. They are explicitly grain-free. For a complete and detailed ingredient and guaranteed analysis, please refer directly to the product's packaging.

Price comparison

When evaluating the price of this ZIWI Peak bundle, it's important to understand its position in the market. At $108.51 per pound, it ranks significantly above the median price of $8.26 per pound for small-bag cat foods. It is situated in the upper echelon of the premium and super-premium categories, reflecting its specialized air-drying process and exceptionally high meat content. While the average price in this category is skewed higher to $65.72 by ultra-premium foods like this one, ZIWI Peak remains a top-tier investment in feline nutrition.

Frequently asked questions

What is 'air-dried' cat food?

Air-drying is a gentle, two-stage process that slowly removes moisture from the raw ingredients under low temperatures. This method aims to preserve the nutritional integrity of the meat, organs, and seafood while creating a shelf-stable product without the need for high-heat extrusion or artificial preservatives. The result is a dense, jerky-like food.

Is this bundle a good value?

In terms of cost per pound, this is a very expensive product. Its value lies in its high nutritional density, quality of ingredients, and the opportunity to sample three different ultra-premium recipes before committing to a larger, more expensive bag. It's a trial and variety pack, not a bulk purchase.

Why is a grain-free diet recommended for some cats?

Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning their digestive systems are optimized to process animal protein, not carbohydrates. Grain-free diets eliminate common fillers like corn, wheat, and soy, which can be difficult for some cats to digest and may trigger allergies or sensitivities. These diets focus on meat-based protein, which more closely mimics a cat's natural diet.

Can I mix this with my cat's current food?

Yes, ZIWI Peak's air-dried food can be used as a nutrient-boosting topper for your cat's existing kibble or wet food. If you plan to transition fully, it's recommended to do so gradually over a period of 7-10 days to allow your cat's digestive system to adjust.

What are New Zealand green mussels good for?

New Zealand green mussels are a natural superfood rich in omega-3 fatty acids, glucosamine, and chondroitin. In pet food, they are primarily included to support joint health and mobility and can also help reduce inflammation.

How many ounces of each flavor are in the bundle?

The product title specifies that the Beef recipe is a 14-ounce bag. The total bundle weight is 0.875 lbs (14 ounces), which suggests this is a single 14oz bag that contains a mix of the three protein types, rather than three separate bags. Please verify the product packaging for exact details.
