Feeding guide

A general guideline for adult dogs is to feed approximately 1/2 to 2/3 of a cup for every 10 pounds of body weight per day. This total amount should be split into two separate meals. For example, a 40 lb dog might need 2 to 2.5 cups daily. This is just a starting point; always adjust the amount based on your dog's age, activity level, and body condition to maintain an ideal weight. For the most accurate feeding instructions, consult the chart on the product packaging.

Frequently asked questions

Is beef a good primary protein for dogs?

Yes, beef is an excellent source of high-quality protein and essential amino acids for dogs. It's also rich in iron and zinc. As with any protein, it's a great choice unless your specific dog has an allergy or sensitivity to it.

What is the benefit of brown rice in dog food?

Brown rice is a whole grain that retains its nutrient-dense bran and germ layers. It provides dietary fiber, which aids in digestion, and is a good source of carbohydrates for energy. It's generally considered a healthier alternative to refined grains or fillers like corn.

Is this Nutro recipe grain-free?

No, this specific recipe is not grain-free. It purposefully includes brown rice as a key ingredient. Nutro offers other grain-free formulas if your dog has sensitivities or dietary requirements that necessitate avoiding grains.

How large is the kibble in the Adult Beef & Brown Rice recipe?

Kibble size can vary, but formulas for adult dogs are typically a medium size suitable for a wide range of breeds. It's generally not as small as puppy or toy breed food, nor as large as giant breed-specific formulas. If you have a very small or very large dog, you may want to check for breed-size-specific options.

Can I switch my dog to this food immediately?

It is never recommended to switch dog foods abruptly as it can cause digestive upset. You should gradually transition your dog over 7-10 days by mixing the new Nutro food with their old food, slowly increasing the proportion of the new food each day until you are feeding it exclusively.

Does this 12 lb bag have a resealable closure?

While many premium dog food bags do come with a resealable feature, it's not always guaranteed. To ensure maximum freshness and prevent pests, we recommend storing the kibble in its original bag inside a sealed, airtight container in a cool, dry place.
